Gather Center Presents Awakening : The Reverent Observer

A solo exhibition of artworks by Luca Goly

Awakening is the recognition of our authentic voice over and over again.  The inner voice asks for witnesses, not judges.  Simple, committed observation makes inspiration accessible and sacred.

Luca Goly answered such a call during the upheaval of early COVID-19 in 2020 departing from hands-on engineering works for the City of New York and rediscovering his passion for creating.  Traversing mediums, Goly plays with appreciation across millennia of artistic innovation. He assembles instinctive and vividly expressive perspectives centering on the idea that “art is not a fixed object, but a dynamic exchange between artist and audience.”Goly’s lively presence and creative permissiveness evoke authenticity, play and joy, and they invite us to feel the same.

Awakening : The Reverent Observer expands on Gather Center’s recurring, annually-situated Consciousness Cycle. This program proposes the journey of our becoming as a consciousness spiral, which revolves with renewal and expanding progression.  Natural and human rhythms translate into a sequence of exhibitions across the year. Awakening follows Unconditional Humans during Lunar New Year, which explores aware passage for the collective and is followed by Resonance (Summer), Alignment (Fall) and  Embodiment (Winter).  These emphasize individual empowerment and unity consciousness, the pillars of Gather Center’s nonprofit mission.
