Christopher Carter Sanderson (BFA NYU, MFA Yale, Fulbright) is a polymath and dissident American artist. Educated by his artist mother who studied with Joseph Albers, he learned drawing and art with her until age 18. Sanderson has been exhibiting in New York city since 1990 exploring timely themes concerning identity, oppression, absurdity. More recent artworks confront suppression, misogyny, homophobia, and bigotry. Sketches for This is Not Marcel Duchamp highlight the absurdity of oppression. Sanderson takes inspiration from recent events in his personal life and from having been subjected to extrajudicial FBI interrogation without evidence.
